Thanks Franklin Goose

Thanks to a extremely generous gift from Franklin Goose, our cloth diaper stash has increased tremendously. We've added quite a few prefolds as many of our were the cheap Gerber ones from when Emahry was born.

We also have some wonderful Happy Heiny One Size Pocket diapers and a few Bum Genius One Size AIO diapers. We are loving our new stash. One size diapers make having two in diapers so much easier. We can just through a couple in the diaper bag and we know that they will fit whichever one needs them.
Thanks again Franklin Goose!

Right now (until March 31st) you can earn $5 for every product you review at Franklin Goose. Please, help them spread the word about their great store! We will definitely be supporting them with our business and will enjoy their generous offer as we purchase a few more diapers for our stash.

Becca has some great thoughts on Franklin Goose's extremely generous marketing campaign.

Make sure you check out their store for some wonderful prices on cloth diapers, toys, bedding, clothing, and much more.

(As a side note, I was reading through some of the reviews and there is a cloth diapering mama out there with the same first initial and last name as me. That was a little odd to see.)

Review & Giveaway :: Wee Ones by JaJoC {closed}

In preparing for Eliya's birth, we discovered that we really didn't have enough small AIO diapers since Jonathan was in disposable diapers until he was at least a month old. We started looking for some more AIOs, but we didn't much like the idea of having newborn or small sized diapers that our babies would outgrow by the time they were only a few weeks or months old. Then we stumbled upon Crystal's Etsy shop Wee Ones by JaJoC. Crystal has developed a One Size AIO Diaper that really caught our attention.

Here's what she has to say about it:

After much trial and error I've made a One Size AIO that doesn't leak! Made with organic materials and PUL this diaper is designed to keep your wee one in the same diaper from birth to the Potty (roughly 8-30 lbs).

Made with an exterior of PUL, and Bamboo inside ALL is designed to be a trim fitting yet absorbent diaper.

You can customize it with more absorbency if you'd like and it comes with our new One Size Trifold which is trim, absorbent and best of all One Size!

When Crystal agreed to send us one of these One-Size AIO diapers we were very excited. I have to admit that we were also a little skeptical that it would truly work for such a large range of sizes.

When the diaper arrived I pre-washed it and then proceeded to try it on all three of our children. As a reference, Emahry will be 3 in 2 months and weighs 32 pounds, Jonathan is almost 18 months old and weighs 21 pounds, and Eliya is five weeks old and weighs approximately 7 1/2 pounds.

Emahry is probably at the tip of the size range for this diaper, but thankfully she doesn't need to be in diapers much any more. We actually put her in this diaper for a few nights to see if it would be absorbent enough for a nighttime accident, but each morning she was completely dry :)

Jonathan is the perfect size for this diaper. He is right in between the change in rise and can actually wear the diaper at either height. This diaper has been very absorbent with him. He has worn it on several outings where it has been left on for about 4 hours and we have had absolutely no trouble with leaking.

Eliya is just growing into this diaper as she is not quite 8 pounds yet. However, I think most babies would fit in this diaper a little earlier, we just tend to have small babies. Considering the fact that she is not to the weight specifications yet, this diaper has worked well for Eliya also. She wore it at home yesterday for 3 hours and we didn't experience any major leaks. There was a tiny bit of dampness on her gown, but I blame that on her skinny little legs and not the diaper :)

Overall, we are very impressed with this diaper. I would love to fill our stash with these diapers. The Wee Ones One-Size AIO Daipers are priced at $26.95 each, which is a good deal when you consider that they will most likely fit for the entire time your child is in diapers.

Here are some more of our favorite things from Wee Ones by JaJoC's Etsy Shop. Simply click on each picture to view the listing or browse through the entire shop or website.

Buy It: You can purchase your own cloth diapers, baby wraps/slings, items for moms, leather baby shoes/boots, and much more by visiting the Wee Ones by JaJoC's website or Etsy shop. If you make a purchase, please let them know that you found out about the shop at A Heart For Home.

Win It: Wee Ones by JaJoC sent us two of these wonderful diapers, one for us to review, and one for us to pass on to one of our readers. This is the same type of diaper, the One-Size ALL Zorbeez AIO, that we reviewed. Here is a photo of the exact diaper the winner will receive.

NaturOli Soap Nuts Giveaway {closed}

It's amazing how God supplies everything we need within his beautiful creation!

Our family has been using soap nuts to clean our laundry for almost a year now and we continue to be amazed at how this simple dried shell can so effectively clean all of our messes. Soap nuts are a wonderfully natural way to clean laundry.

Soap nuts grow on trees and do not contain any harmful chemicals or additives. Soap nuts are the dried shells from the soapberry. These shells contain a substance called saponin that produces a soaping effect. Saponin is a 100% natural alternative to chemical laundry detergents. Soap nuts also contain a natural fabric softener.

Read more about them in our previous post here.

NaturOli would like to donate one 4 oz. bag of their exceptional soap nuts for a giveaway here at A Heart for Home. This 4 oz. bag will wash approximately 40 loads of laundry! So one of our readers will have the opportunity to try out this wonderful product. They really work for us!

Lefty Loops Review & Giveaway {closed}

I recently discovered Lefty Loops when we won a Custom Cupcake Hat from a giveaway at Wee Share. Tara, is the creative mama behind the Etsy shop Lefty Loops. She is the full-time mom to one little boy and a part-time speech-language pathologist. She began her business of selling adorable crocheted hats on Etsy so that she wouldn't have to go back to work full-time. What a great motivation!

When I found out that we had won a Bake your Own Cupcake Hat, I was very excited. I knew it would be perfect for Emahry, even though she has never eaten an entire cupcake in her life, the hat seems to fit her personality. Emahry loved choosing the flavors for her hat.

We both anticipated its arrival and were very excited when the package showed up at the post office. Every time Emahry wears her cupcake hat it gets noticed. The unique design makes this a perfect addition to any little girl's cool weather wardrobe.

Since we love Emahry's hat so much, I was thrilled when Tara asked if we would like to review a new hat design that she was adding to her shop. We waited again with anticipation until another package arrived.

Tara sent us this adorable Bunny Hat and Carrot Rattle for Eliya. She wore it on our walk home from the post office and it has already received many compliments.

This precious hat is made from white yarn and has a small flower that can be customized with a choice of four colors. The combination of this bunny hat and carrot rattle would make a wonderful Easter gift for a baby or toddler in your life.

We are very pleased with both of these hats. The stitching is very uniform and the overall design and quality is very good. We will definitely recommend Lefty Loops to all of the people who stop and ask where we got these adorable hats! These hats are truely finer things.

Here are some more of our favorite things from Lefty Loops. Simply click on each picture to view the listing or browse through the entire shop.

Buy It:
You can purchase your own adorable crocheted hats from Tara by visiting Lefty Loops. If you make a purchase, please let Tara know that you found out about the shop at A Heart For Home. Also be sure to visit her blog.

In an effort to help the people of Haiti after the devasting earthquakes, 15% of each sale made until March 16, 2010 will be donated to the Red Cross.

Win It:

The Fabric Bar Review & Giveaway {closed}

I'm always on the lookout for shops that carry beautiful and unique fabrics. So I was very excited when I came across Amy's shop, The Fabric Bar.

The Fabric Bar is "...a small family owned company whose mission is to bring you the cutest, highest quality and most exclusive Japanese fabric and gifts this wonderful world has to offer. We also carry a small range of designer collections from our favorite domestic manufacturers such as: Alexander Henry, Free Spirit and many more! We also love to support the newer "indie" designers and will be adding several of their collections to our shop towards the end of the year."

I was thrilled when Amy agreed to send me one of her "over one yard" scrap packs to review. These packs are filled with mostly fat eighth sized pieces in a variety of Japanese fabrics and domestic designers. You can also ask Amy to customize your scrap pack by choosing warm or cool tones, girl or boy fabrics, cotton or cotton/linen blends.

I'm always excited when I receive scrap packs because I never know exactly what to expect. Well, I definitely was not disappointed with The Fabric Bar's scrap pack. I had told Amy that I would be using these fabrics for accessories for the kids' room and for baby and children's crafts, so she filled my scrap pack with a variety of cheerful and fun fabrics.

This design is adorable... (April Showers)

and coordinates with this one. (May Flowers)
